The Knotty Buffalo is an up and coming local yarn shop, located in Buffalo, NY. The Knotty Buffalo provides yarn, all hand dyed by women, as well as tools for completing your projects.
Imani is a Buffalo native, who completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Alfred University in 2015. She has been knitting since 2nd grade after learning during an after school program and learned to crochet from her dad shortly after. After taking a break from fiber to focus on school in high school. She picked up the hobby again in college with other friends. Imani happened upon the idea of opening a yarn shop after noticing that others in the area were closing their doors and the city was becoming under served for fiber artists. With the goal of making yarn and fiber arts more accessible to the BIPOC community, she opened a small work space in The Foundry on the east side of Buffalo.
Currently, you can find hand dyed yarn by Haute Knit Yarn, and Dark Wave Fibers. Knit Picks tools are also available in store only. Classes are also offered through The Foundry. Visit their website to learn more about the classes myself and other residents offer.
Things are always changing, so be sure to follow along on the blog and sign up for emails to learn more about the business and fiber events in and around Buffalo.
